Why the car won't start after a starter change?

Recently I changed the starter on a '91 ford escort sw. To my surprise although the starter is ok the car won't crank. What could be wrong?
Why the car won't start after a starter change?
check the connection on the starter, or check the starter relay, or check the neutral safety switch.
Why the car won't start after a starter change?
Starter relay? Neutral Safety Switch? High resistance in the main battery postive cable? Failing ignition switch? Bad 'S' terminal wire or circuit? Bad battery? Defective replacement starter? Take your pick
Check to see if the battery is fully charged to a minimum of 12 volts. There could be corrosion under the battery cables that you can not see with out removing them. Current can be blocked by white fluffy stuff on the terminals of the battery. A bad ignition switch may be blocking the voltage to the starter assuming that all of the wires were reattached to the new starter when it was reinstalled.
Have you checked the %26quot;starter relay%26quot; ? Also, check fuses. Does the car have an alarm ? I had a car that this exact thing happened to and I wound up running two wires to the starter(positive and ground) and mounting the other ends inside to a toggle switch. Then I just turned the key to the %26quot;ON%26quot; position and hit my switch to start it.
is it a new or rebuild starter? hope u didn't buy a starter from the junk yard cus it may be a bad one just do a check over again.

is the batt cables are good? is the batt post cleen? is the batt charged?

good luck

hope this helps some
First recheck all your connections to make sure you hooked everything back together right. Second it could probably just be the solenoid on top of the starter. Alot of people think they need a starter but mostly its the solenoid. this is about $6-12. Good Luck.
