How do you change a starter in a 89' Pontiac Sunbird?

I got this car for free the otherday. It ran fine. I tuned it up and everything was good. But then i go to start it on day and it just startes to smoke. I am sure it is the clyinoid that was smoking there is nothing else electrical in that area. THe problem is not that i don;t know how to change a starter , but how do i get to it on this car. I am not sure what to do to get to it. If you could help me out that would be great. Thx

Buy another one for $300 (the car not the starter).

first disconnect the battery then jack up car. see if there are any support brackets in place and remove them unbolt starter from the engine and becareful of the wieght and the wires for power still attached disconnect the wires. then have starter checked out and or rebuilt or replaced and then replace the starter in reverse
You could go to the site autozone.com it is a parts store but on their site they have a how to guide. you just enter in your year and type of car and you can get instructions online ( print them out). all of this is FREE. you can even order a replacement starter from the site if you are so inclined.
take the old starter out first, then replace it with the new one.
