im trying to change the starter and the only thing i see that looks like a starter is on the front of the transmission

My Buick 84 Park Ave(Electra) had it at the bottom rear of motor (near tranny close to where the gas petal is) 94 Tempo is bottom but front near radiator!
The Diagram in my Aerostar book(Haynes manual) and the Aerostar is based on the Ranger frame!
