You are on the right track. On this engine, it is actually located towards the back of the valley of the block under the lower intake. You need to remove the upper and lower intakes and all of the linkages, gaskets and covers that go with them. The labor time is approx 5 hours so that is going to be a decent job. Good luck. PS, there is an EGR tube in the back incase you are fighting with pulling out the intake.

The starter is under the car beside the oil pan, you do not have to take anything off of the top of the eigine. If you have loosened the intake you will need a torque wrench to torque it back down.

im not too fimillar with that brand car but im pretty sure that you dont go in thru the top of the motor ....starters are usually underneath next to the tranny.
The starter on these is under the intake manifold which has to be removed to access it. So yes you are on the right track
