the last Saturn i worked on was a long time ago but as i remember it is on the back side of the engine on flywheel housing remove battery cables frist disconnect wires from starter and remove mounting bolts replace in reverse
Tough to get to for the average do-it-yourselfer.

The starter is on the back side of the engine. The only way to access it is from underneath, so the car will need to be lifted.

After disconnecting the negative battery cable from the battery and lifting the car, it's pretty straight forward.

The starter bolts are 13mm. The top one can't be seen, so you'll need a 13mm socket and 6 inch extension (and some patience and elbow grease) to remove it.

I am a Saturn mechanic, and I'll tell you upfront, that I would find this job annoying if I had to do it on my back.....

EDIT: A 1992 model also has some extra bracketry between the starter and 1/2 shaft carrier that will also require removal. It will not be re-installed with a new starter.
