Where can i find imformation on changing a starter on a mazda mpv mini van?

If you need help to do a simple task like this, take it to a repair shop.|||go to the public libary and check out a Chilton%26#039;s Repair Mnaual(or similar type manual)%26gt; Will give step by step instructions.|||In a repair manual, such as Chilton%26#039;, or Haynes. They should be available at your local library.

It is actually a fairly easy job. First remove the negative batterry cable, then working under the vehicle, remove the big wire on the starter. There will be a plastic, or rubber cover you pry up, then use (probably) a 12mm wrench to remove the nut. When you put this nut back on, don%26#039;t overtighten, just snug it up. Then remove the smaller wire. You will have to push in on the retainer clip, then pull it out. Then remove the bolts (2) holding the starter to the flywheel. This should take a 12mm socket and appropriate extension. Installation is reverse of removal.

That is a gear reduction starter, the rarely wear out. The biggest cause of failure is the electrical arc on the solenoid contacts burn out. I replace these on most cars for $60.00. That may be beyond you, but if you can buy the contact arms, remove the three screws holding the end cap on the solenoid. You may figure out how it%26#039;s done (simple really), and save the cost of a new starter!
